SATAscent ("we," "our," or "us") operates satascent.com, an AI-powered SAT preparation platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services.

By creating an account or using SATAscent, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Information We Collect

Account & Identity Data

  • Email address (used for login and notifications)
  • Account ID (auto-generated)
  • Password (stored only as a secure hash — we never see your plain-text password)

Usage & Study Data

  • Practice questions answered and responses selected
  • Correct/incorrect answer history per topic
  • Study session timestamps and duration
  • Progress metrics and score predictions
  • AI tutor chat messages (used to generate explanations)

Technical Data

  • IP address and approximate geographic region
  • Browser type, version, and operating system
  • Login timestamps and session tokens
  • Performance and error logs

Payment Data (Premium subscribers only)

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full card details on our systems. We retain only your subscription status, billing email, and transaction history provided to us by Stripe.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and improve the SATAscent platform
  • Personalize your study experience and adapt question difficulty
  • Send account-related emails (verification, password reset, billing receipts)
  • Generate AI-powered explanations and study reports

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with the following trusted providers solely to operate our service. Each provider is bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

Supabase (supabase.com)

Supabase is our backend infrastructure provider. They store your account credentials (email, hashed password), user profile data, study progress, and authentication sessions. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II compliant and processes data on servers located in the United States.

Stripe (stripe.com)

Stripe processes all subscription payments. When you subscribe to a premium plan, your payment details are transmitted directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. We receive only a subscription status token — never raw card data.

Vercel (vercel.com)

Vercel hosts the SATAscent frontend. Vercel may collect IP addresses, browser information, and performance metrics as part of standard web hosting operations.

AI Service Provider

We use a third-party AI API to generate practice questions and explanations. Chat messages and question context may be transmitted to this provider to produce AI-generated responses. We do not use your content to train external AI models without your consent.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, and service functionality. For full details, please see our Cookie Policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and study data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (e.g., transaction records required by tax law, typically 7 years).

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

SATAscent is intended for use by students, including those under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent as required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us personal information without consent, please contact us at satascent.support@gmail.com and we will delete that information promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Portability: Request an export of your study data in a machine-readable format.

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and access controls. Our services are operated from the United States. If you access SATAscent from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
